Vorwerk Teppichwerke receives international Good Design Award 2008
With its stylish stripes, the Vorwerk carpet “MODENA design” convinces in the category “Floor and Wall Coverings”
Hamlin, April 2009 - What do Apple, Audi, Bulthaup and Vorwerk have in common? The highest standards in extraordinary design. That viewpoint is shared by the jury for the Good Design Award, an honour given each year by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum for Architecture and Design in Chicago. Renowned designers, architects and art experts from New York and Los Angeles distinguished the carpet "MODENA design" from the Vorwerk "fascination" carpet collection by bestowing the Good Design Award 2008 on it in the category "Floor and Wall Coverings".
The decisive criteria for the jurors in awarding the honour were the unusual design consisting of space-encompassing, irregularly designed stripes and the stand-alone, highly self-assured world of colours. Ina Struve, head designer at Vorwerk Teppichwerke, was very pleased about receiving the Good Design Award: "We wanted to surprise people with ?MODENA design' in a striped look, so we designed an attention-getting, distinctive motif on a high-quality print velours. We're glad that the courage to work with unusual design is being honoured with one of the world's most famous prizes for design."
For all those with a passion for design, a travel tip is there for the taking, too: The exhibit "Good Design 2008" at the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum for Architecture and Design will open in June 2009 in Chicago. Alongside the award-winning carpet from Vorwerk, all the other prize-winners from the international designer elite can be seen as well.
"With the exhibit in Chicago we have the chance to show ourselves as an innovative and design-oriented enterprise on the North American market," says Johannes Schulte, CEO at Vorwerk Teppichwerke. "And the prize shows us that the standard we set ourselves for innovative design is received quite well internationally, too."
